3 Simple & Spooky Apps for your Halloween Party

Halloween is just around the corner. We know this holiday isn’t for everyone so if you want to skip the costume night out, why not throw a spooky soirée?!  Check out these three ghoulishly good Halloween appetizers that are sure to impress your guests and satisfy cravings for the eerie and the edible. 1. Witch's Broomstick Snacks

A bewitching crowd pleaser that’s as easy as it is eerie.

Serves: Plan on 3-4 sticks per person! 

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Ingredients:

  • Pretzel sticks

  • String cheese or cheddar cheese slices

  • Chives or green onion stems

Instructions:

  1. Cut the cheese into thin, rectangular pieces.

  2. Make small cuts at one end of each cheese piece to resemble broom bristles.

  3. Wrap the uncut end of the cheese around the top of a pretzel stick, leaving the broom bristles sticking out.

  4. Tie a small piece of chive or green onion around the cheese to secure it and create the appearance of a broomstick.

  5. Serve these adorable and savory "Witch's Broomstick Snacks."

2. Monster Eyes

Spook your guests with this sophisticated & scary hors d'oeuvre for the daring.

Serves: Plan on 2-3 per person

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Ingredients:

  • Hard-boiled eggs

  • Guacamole

  • Black olives

  • Optional: Ketchup/hot sauce

Instructions:

  1. Slice the hard-boiled eggs in half lengthwise and remove the yolk

  2. Spread the guacamole where the egg yolk was

  3. Cut small circles from black olives and place them in the center of the guacamole

  4. Optional: Add a dollop of ketchup/hot sauce in the middle of the olive for a bloody eyeball 

  5. Arrange the "Monster Eyes" on a platter for a simple and eerie appetizer.


3. Halloween Veggie Platter with Pumpkin Dip

Turn the tables on traditional candy-filled bowls with this healthy, delicious & festive platter. 

Serves: 6-8 people

Prep Time: 15 minutes

Ingredients:

  • Baby carrots

  • Cherry tomatoes

  • Cucumber slices

  • Bell pepper strips (various colors)

  • Broccoli florets

  • Ranch dressing or your favorite dip (we also love hummus!)

Instructions:

  1. Arrange the baby carrots, cherry tomatoes, cucumber slices, bell pepper strips, and broccoli florets on a platter in the shape of a face or any spooky design you prefer.

  2. Carve a small pumpkin to create a bowl for your dip.

  3. Place the pumpkin in the center of the veggie platter.

  4. Fill the pumpkin with ranch dressing or your favorite dip.
